Last year, the growth rate of total building energy usage in Jeju was the highest in the nation.

According to data released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the total building energy usage nationwide last year was approximately 35 million TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent), a decrease of 1.3% compared to the previous year.

In contrast, Jeju's usage was around 340,000 TOE, an increase of 1.1% from the previous year, standing in stark contrast to other municipalities of Gyeonggi(경기), Gwangju(광주), and Daejeon(대전), which saw decreases of 5%.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has called for the establishment of carbon neutrality policies for each municipality based on this data.

지난해 제주지역의 건물에너지 총 사용 증가율이
전국에서 최고 수준을 보였습니다.

국토교통부가 발표한 자료에 따르면
지난해 전국 건물 에너지 총 사용량은
3천500만여 TOE로 전년 대비 1.3% 감소했습니다.

반면 제주 지역 사용량은 34만여 TOE로
전년보다 1.1% 늘어나 5% 가량 감소한
경기와 광주, 대전 등 다른 지자체와 대조되고 있습니다.

국토교통부는 데이터를 기반으로
지자체 마다 탄소중립 정책의 수립을 주문했습니다.
