A specialized center has been established, staffed by police and relevant agencies to quickly address mental health emergencies.

Jeju along with the Jeju Provincial Police Agency held an inauguration ceremony for the Mental Health Emergency Joint Response Center, the seventh facility of its kind to operate in the nation.

The center is staffed 24/7 by the police.
The center crisis response team will provide one-stop services ranging from on-site dispatch to initial counseling in psychiatric emergency situations.

The number of mental health emergency hospitalization cases handled by the Provincial Police Agency surged from approximately 190 in 2022 to more than 420 last year, more than doubling in number.

정신건강 관련 응급상황에 경찰과 관련 기관이 상주하며 신속 대응할 수 있는 전문 기관이 문을 열었습니다.

제주도와 제주경찰청은 정신응급 합동 대응센터 개소식을 열고
전국에서 7번째로 시설 운영에 들어간다고 밝혔습니다.

대응센터에는 경찰과 광역정신건강복지센터 위기대응팀이
24시간 상주하면서 정신과적 응급 상황 발생시 현장 출동과 초기 상담까지 원스톱 서비스를 제공할 예정입니다.

제주경찰청이 연계 처리하는 정신건강 응급입원 의뢰 건수는
지난 2022년 190여 건에서 지난해 420여 건으로 두 배 이상 급증했습니다.
