A number of illegal tourism operations targeting Chinese visitors have been uncovered, raising concerns over unregulated practices within the local travel industry.

The Jeju Municipal Police revealed that a special crackdown carried out from February to March uncovered 29 cases of illegal activity, including unregistered travel agencies, unauthorized paid transportation services, and unlicensed tour guides.

Authorities confirmed that those involved had been recruiting tourists via social media and instructing them to stay silent during potential police inspections in an attempt to avoid detection.

The Jeju Police Force stressed that illegal tourism operations undermine legitimate businesses and vowed to step up enforcement efforts to curb such practices.

이들은 SNS를 통해 모객 행위를 하고
경찰 단속에 대비해 입단속을 시킨 것으로 확인됐습니다.

제주자치경찰단은 불법 관광행위는
합법적인 관광 여행업체에 피해가 전가될 수 밖에 없는 만큼
앞으로도 단속을 강화할 방침입니다.
