In the second retrial of the Jeju April 3rd military tribunal cases held this year, all 19 victims were acquitted.

In its 59th official retrial, the 4·3 retrial division of the Jeju District Court declared all 19 former prisoners of war innocent, accepting the request made by the joint prosecution team.

As a result, the individuals have been fully exonerated, restoring their honor after 77 years.

Since the start of the official retrials in 2022, 2,166 of the 2,530 individuals sentenced in the original military trials have been acquitted.

The remaining 364 individuals were either not officially recognized as victims or were unable to undergo retrial proceedings due to issues such as unresolved identity verification.

검찰 합동수행단이 청구한
제59차 직권 재심 재판에서
수형인 19명에게 모두 무죄를 선고했습니다.

이로써 이들은
77년 만에
누명을 벗고
명예를 회복했습니다.

지난 2022년부터 시작된
직권재심 재판을 통해
군사재판 수형인 2천 530명 중
2천 166명이 무죄를 선고 받았습니다.

나머지 364명은
희생자로 최종 의결되지 않았거나
추가 신원확인 등을 이유로
재심 재판을 받지 못하고 있습니다.
