Starting this August, Jeju will introduce a system for using reusable containers through food delivery apps.

On June 5, World Environment Day, Jeju signed a business agreement with nine organizations, including major delivery platforms such as Baedal Minjok (배달의 민족) and Meokkkebi (먹깨비), to implement the system.

Consumers will be able to select a “reusable container” option when ordering through these apps. After receiving their order, they can scan a QR code on the provided return bag to initiate the return process.

Returned containers and bags will be cleaned and sanitized by certified professional cleaning services, meeting Ministry of Environment standards.

The pilot program will begin in August in the Nohyeong (노형) and Yeon-dong (연동) areas, with plans to expand island-wide based on the program’s results.

제주도가 오는 8월부터
배달앱을 통한 다회용기 이용 시스템을 도입하기로 했습니다.

이를 위해 5일 '세계환경의 날' 행사에서
먹깨비와 배달의 민족 등 9개 기관과 업무협약을 체결했습니다.

이에따라 소비자들은
배달의민족과 먹깨비 앱에서
'다회용기 주문' 옵션을 선택할 수 있으며
배달받은 후에는
전용 가방에 부탁된 QR코드를 스캔해 반납신청하는 방식입니다.

반납된 용기와 가방은
환경부 기준을 통과한 전문 세척업체를 거쳐 재사용됩니다.

제주도는 오는 8월부터 노형과 연동지역을 시범지역으로 시작하고
사업 성과를 분석한 후
단계적으로 제주 전역으로 확대하기로 했습니다.
