Ship accidents in Jeju increased sharply last year, with repeat accidents occurring at a higher rate than the national average.

According to the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, there were 430 marine accidents involving vessels in Jeju last year, representing a 44 percent increase from the previous year.

In particular, five-year statistics showed that 46 percent of vessels involved in marine accidents had experienced repeat accidents, a rate 1.5 times higher than the national average.

In response, the authority has designated this month as a special marine accident prevention period in Jeju.
During the campaign, safety inspections will focus on vessels with a history of repeat accidents.

선박을 중심으로
안전 점검을 실시할 계획입니다.
