The Jeju April 3 Darangshi Cave (다랑쉬굴), a hideout and massacre site in Sehwa-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, will be registered as a State-Registered Cultural Heritage.

The Jeju provincial government said it will gather public opinion during a 30-day pre-registration notice period. After a review by the National Heritage Committee, the final decision on registration will be made.

During April 3, Darangshi Cave was a hideout where residents fled and a place where many were killed. Relics there preserve the tragic events and the residents' life in hiding, giving it recognized value as a site that shows the historical reality.

앞으로 30일간의 등록 예고 기간 동안
국민 의견을 수렴한 뒤
국가유산위원회 심의를 거쳐
최종 등록 여부가 결정된다고 밝혔습니다.

다랑쉬굴은 4.3 당시
주민들이 피신했던 은신처이자 집단 희생이 발생한 장소로
당시 비극적 상황과 피신 생활을 보여주는 유물이 보존돼 있어
역사적 실상을 보여주는 현장으로 가치를 인정받고 있습니다.
