‘No irregularities found with St. Johnsbury Academy’

Officials from the Provincial Office of Education say they found no irregularities with St. Johnsbury Academy’s application to become Jeju’s next international school.

A delegation of officials from Jeju returned from an on-site investigation at the school’s headquarters in the American state of Vermont… saying they confirmed that the application process was fair and aboveboard, contrary to critics’ claims.

The school’s board of executives reportedly said they acknowledged that there had been suspicions of wrongdoing but reassured the Jeju officials that there had been no legal problems in the process.

Allegations had been made that St. Johnsbury Academy had been falsely represented as a “prestigious” school and that there had been shady deals in the process of getting the school to open a new campus inside the Jeju Global Education City.

제주도교육청이 졸속 추진 논란을 빚었던 영어교육도시 국제학교인 세인트존스베리 아카데미 제주에 대해 문제가 없다는 결론을 내렸습니다.

도 교육청은 지난달 26일부터 미국 버몬트주에 있는 본교에 실사단을 파견해 논란이 됐던 유치 계약 내용과 절차를 재확인한 결과 이상이 없었다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 협력사업계약서에 대한 의혹에 대해서도 본교 이사진이 인지하고 있었고 법률적인 이상도 없다는 답변을 얻었다고 강조했습니다.

그동안 세인트존스베리 아카데미 제주는 명문학교로 과도하게 포장됐고
설립계획 승인과정에서도 문제가 있다는 의혹을 받아왔습니다.
