More than 4m summer beachgoers
37% more than last year

Compared to last year, over one million more people visited Jeju beaches this summer.

Provincial officials put the final tally, through the end of August, at four million eight thousand. That’s 37 percent more than a year ago.

Hamdeok Beach was the most popular with just under one million visitors… up 55 percent from last summer. Next was Hyeopjae with 964,000, then Iho Beach with 625,000 visitors, and Jungmun Beach with some 390,000.

Twenty-nine percent more people visited local beaches at night this summer compared to last, and that, coupled with a prolonged heatwave and the absence of a typhoon, is what analysts say caused the surge.

해수욕장 이용객 4백만 돌파…37% 증가

올해 해수욕장 이용객수가 지난해보다 1백만명 이상 급증하며
4백만 명을 넘은 것으로 집계됐습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난 7월부터 지난달까지 11개 지정 해수욕장 이용객은 4백만 8천 명으로 지난해보다 108만여 명, 37% 증가했습니다.

함덕이 전년보다 55% 증가한 99만 2천여 명으로 가장 많았고
협재 96만 4천여 명, 이호 62만 5천여 명, 중문 39만여 명 순으로 집계됐습니다.

올해는 야간개장 이용객이 전년보다 29% 증가한 59만 4천여 명으로 늘어났고 태풍과 집중호우 없는 폭염으로 이용객이 급증한 것으로 분석됩니다.
