JDC Global Academy lecture series restarts
Former CEO of KTO gives first speech

The JDC Global Academy has kicked off its special lecture series for the second half of the year.

The first was held on Tuesday by the German-born Korean Lee Charm. Lee is the former CEO of the Korea Tourism Organization and the first ever foreigner to head a public organization in Korea. The title of his speech was “Korea: The Unlimited Potential in a Stifling Nation.”

In it, he praised Korea’s human-centered culture but criticized the extreme emphasis put on education, saying it was time for the country to change.

Regarding Jeju, Lee said it was vital that the province attract top environmentally-friendly companies to the island and expand its tourist infrastructure.

특히 제주는 공해없는 우수한 기업을 유치하고 관광인프라를 확충해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
