National government finalizes plan to upgrade Jeju seaports

The national government will upgrade Jeju’s seaports as part of its master plan to improve maritime logistics nationwide.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced Thursday that the government will spend 840 billion won through 2020 on upgrades to seven seaports in Jeju: those in Jeju City, Seogwipo, Chuja, Aewol, Hallim, Hwasun and Seongsanpo.

Seoul included the first stage of the provincial government’s proposal for land reclamation off Tapdong in the master plan. Work on a cruise terminal in the area will therefore be able to begin before 2020.

The national government releases a master plan to upgrade its seaport facilities every five years.

전국 항만기본계획 확정…제주항만 8천억 투자

제주도내 항만개발사업이 정부계획에 반영돼 탄력을 받게 됐습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 해양수산부는 오늘 전국 항만기본계획을 확정 고시하고 제주의 경우 제주항과 서귀포항, 추자항, 애월항, 한림항, 화순항, 성산포항 등 7개 항만에 오는 2020년까지 사업비 8천 400억원을 투입해 개발사업을 추진하기로 했습니다.

또 크루즈 부두 1석과 국내여객부두 4선석 등 오는 2020년까지의 제주신항 1단계 사업이 이번 기본계획에 반영돼 본격적으로 추진할 수 있게 됐습니다.
