864 rainwater harvesting facilities in Jeju
Nearly 1.8m tons of groundwater saved annually

Jeju’s rainwater harvesting systems are helping to save nearly 1.8 million tons of groundwater each year.

Since 2005, the provincial government has installed 864 facilities across the island to make use of rainwater.

They have a combined storage capacity of 119,000 tons, and they allow local residents to use up to 1.76 million tons of rainwater every year for landscaping, cleaning, and farming.

99.5 percent of the facilities are currently being used to provide water for greenhouses.

빗물이용시설 864개소…연간 176만톤 지하수 절감

도내 빗물이용시설을 통해 연간 176만톤의
지하수 절감 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주도는 버려지는 빗물을 활용하기 위해
지난 2005년부터 빗물 이용시설 지원사업을 통해
모두 864개소에 시설을 설치했습니다.

이 시설의 빗물 저장용량은 11만9천여 톤에 이르고
조경용수와 청소, 농업용수 등으로 그동안 빗물 이용량도
백76만톤에 달하는 것으로 집계됐습니다.

특히 전체 빗물이용시설의 99.5%가 비닐하우스로
나타나 농업용수로 활용되는 것으로 나타났습니다.
