Jeju announces ‘EV 2.0 Era’ plan
Private sector to play greater role

The province has announced its so-called Electric Vehicle 2.0 Era plan, which involves an expansion to charging infrastructure and the inclusion of more companies in the initiative.

In a Tuesday press conference, Governor Won Heeryong said the proclamation signals a shift in the project from being a government initiative to one that involves both the public and private sectors. He added that all parties involved would cooperate to expand EV infrastructure and develop related cultural and tourism products.

The province has also decided to encourage more drivers to go electric by revoking the permit requirement to park one in residential complexes. And another six charging stations will be installed at the sports complex, Kang Chang-hak Arena, and other areas.

Authorities will also create EV-incorporated olle trails and pilgrimage tours to boost tourism.

Provincial officials say that while government subsidies for EVs will be reduced next year, they hope competition between private companies will result in lower prices.

제주도가 전기차 충전 인프라를 확충하고 민간 사업 참여를 활성화하는 내용의 전기차 2.0 시대 사업계획을 제시했습니다.

원희룡 지사는 오늘 제주도청에서 기자회견을 통해 전기차 2.0 시대 선포는 관 주도의 전기차 보급 정책에서 민관 협력 사업으로의 전환을 의미한다며 앞으로 인프라 확충과 문화 관광 연계 상품 개발에 주력하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 그동안 공동주택 전기차 수요의 감소 요인으로 지목됐던 전기차 사용 승낙서 제출을 없애고
종합경기장과 강창학 경기장 등 6개소에 충전 인프라 스테이션을 조성하기로 했습니다.

또 전기차와 관광을 접목시킨 전기차 올레길과 전기차 성지순례 투어 프로그램도 개발할 계획입니다.

제주도는 내년부터 전기차 보조금이 단계적으로 축소되는 대신, 민간 기업들의 자발적인 경쟁을 통해 가격 인하를 유도할 방침입니다.
