Reservations will be needed for Hallasan, Seongsan Sunrise Peak
New rule to come into force in about one year


People will soon begin needing reservations to visit Hallasan National Park and Seongsan Sunrise Peak.

The idea was first suggested by a group of 25 experts on nature preservation and tourism enhancement. The province accepted the suggestion and has announced it will cap the daily number of visitors to the two sites and require a reservation to enjoy them. The reservation system will be implemented around the end of 2017, once authorities have secured funding for more personnel.

Over 1.2 million people visited Hallasan National Park last year, and Seongsan Sunrise Peak has seen more than three million visitors annually over the past three years. Those crowds have led to parking difficulties and other problems in using the sites’ facilities.

탐방객 급증으로 신음하는 한라산과 성산일출봉에 탐방 예약제가 도입됩니다.

도내외 전문가 25명으로 구성된 제주자연가치 보전과 관광문화 품격 향상을 위한 워킹그룹은
최근 제주도에 한라산과 성산일출봉 탐방 예약제를 도 정책제안으로 건의했습니다.

제주도는 이같은 워킹그룹의 제안을 받아들여 일일 탐방객 상한선을 산출하고
탐방예약시스템과 인력 충원을 위한 예산을 확보한 뒤 내년 하반기쯤 예약제를 시행할 계획입니다.

지난해 한라산 국립공원 탐방객 수는 120만 명을 넘었고 성산일출봉도 3년째 매년 3백만 명을 돌파하면서
주차난과 편의시설 불편 민원 등이 잇따르고 있습니다.
