Udo Islet visitor tally hits 1.8 million at end of September
Up 13% compared to same period last year


More people continue to visit Udo Islet.

The Jeju City administration puts the visitor tally at Udo Maritime Park as of the end of September at 1.79 million. That’s 13 percent more people than had visited in the same period last year.

The number of cars ferried to the island rose three percent to 164,000.

Last month alone, after the peak summer season, an average 6,300 people visited Udo every day.

Officials say if the trend continues, over 2.2 million people will have visited Udo by the end of 2016.

우도 탐방객 180만명… 13% 증가

섬 속의 섬, 우도를 찾는 관광객이 꾸준히 늘고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올 들어 지난달까지 우도해양도립공원 탐방객은 179만 4천여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 13% 증가했습니다.

이 기간 우도에 들어간 차량 대수도 16만 4천여 대로 지난해보다 3% 늘었습니다.

관광 성수기가 끝난 지난달에도 하루 평균 6천 300명이 우도를 찾았습니다.

제주시는 이같은 추세라면 올 연말까지 220만 명을 넘어설 것으로 예상하고 있습니다.
