Jeju City population surpasses 480,000
1,000+ new residents each month so far this year


More than 480,000 people now live in Jeju City.

As of the end of September, official records indicate the city had some 468,000 Korean residents and about 12,000 foreign residents.

The total at the end of 2015 was around 470,000. That means around 10,000 people registered as new inhabitants of the city in the first nine months of the year.

By region, Samyang-dong has 4,000 new residents this year, while Ara-dong has 2,500 and Ora-dong, 1,400.

In contrast, fewer people now live in Ildo 2-dong, Yongdam 2-dong, and Samdo 2-dong compared to the beginning of the year.

제주시 인구 48만명 돌파…매달 1천명 증가

제주 이주 열풍이 이어지면서 제주시 인구가 48만명을 돌파했습니다.

제주시가 주민등록인구와 등록외국인 통계자료를 분석한 결과에 따르면 제주시 인구는 지난달 기준
내국인 46만 8천여 명, 외국인 1만 2천여 명으로 모두 48만 900여 명으로 집계됐습니다.

지난해 말 47만 700여 명에서 9개월 만에 1만 200여 명 늘어난 셈입니다.

지역별로는 삼양동 4천여 명, 아라동 2천 500여 명, 오라동 1천 400여 명 등으로 큰 폭의 증가세를 보인 반면, 일도2동과 용담2동, 삼도2동 등 구도심 감소해 대조를 보였습니다.
