‘Cancel Booyoung Hotel construction’
Area residents call for halt to project


Residents of four villages in Seogwipo are demanding the cancellation of a hotel construction project near Jusangjeolli cliff.

The opponents to the construction of the Booyoung Hotel plan are villagers from Daepo-dong, Jungmun-dong, Hawon-dong, and (회수동) Hwoesu-dong.

At a Tuesday press conference from the provincial council building, they argued that allowing a company to take up such significant space near a public tourist attraction would be detrimental to tourism and the local economy.

They also asked officials to explain why, during negotiations for the project, they eased building height restrictions from 20 meters to 35 meters.

마을주민, "부영호텔 건설사업 취소하라"

경관사유화 논란을 겪고 있는 서귀포시 주상절리 인근 부영호텔 건설에 대해 마을주민들이 사업 전면 취소를 요구했습니다.

서귀포시 대포동과 중문동하원동, 회수동 등 4개마을 주민들로 구성된 부영호텔개발사업 반대대책위원회는 오늘 오후 제주도의회 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 열고 사기업이 경관을 독점하는 것은
제주관광이나 지역경제에 도움이 되지 않는다고 주장했습니다.

이들은 환경영향평과 협의 과정에서 20m 이하 였던 건물의 높이가 35m이하로 변경된 이유도 밝히라고 요구했습니다.
