Daily groundwater collection to be cut by 270,000 tons by 2020
Part of provincial efforts to preserve resource


In an effort to preserve Jeju’s groundwater, the provincial government plans to reduce the amount that can be collected over the next several years.

The current permitted amount is 1.51 million tons a day, but this will go down to 1.23 million tons by 2020.

The province will also expand restriction areas for the construction of private groundwater facilities and higher elevation regions will be designated special management zones. Groundwater will also be graded and managed accordingly.

2020년까지 지하수 취수량 27만 톤 감축

제주특별자치도가 수자원 보존을 위해 지하수 취수허가량을 대폭 줄입니다.

이를 위해 현재 하루평균 151만톤의 취수허가량을 오는 2020년까지 123만톤으로 줄인다는 계획입니다.

이와 함께 사설지하수의 허가제한 구역을 확대하고 중산간 지하수자원에 대한 특별관리구역 지정, 지하수질 등급별 관리방안도 마련할 방침입니다.
