Shinhyup employee alleges sexual assault and cover up

The Me Too movement has spread to Jeju, with a local woman saying she was the victim of sexual assault at her workplace.

The Jeju Association for Women’s Rights and other women’s groups held a press conference Monday at the provincial council building and released a statement from the woman, who is in her twenties and works at a Jeju City branch of Shinhyup.

She alleges that the damage to her was compounded by the fact that the company tried to cover up the situation.

The women’s groups announced the creation of an online platform to report sexual assaults and they vowed to support victims.

모 신협 여직원 직장내 성추행 '미투' 선언

제주시내 모 신협에 근무하던 20대 여성이 직장 동료로부터 강제추행을 당했다며
이른바 미투를 선언했습니다.

제주여성인권연대 등 도내 여성단체는 오늘 오전 제주도의회 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 열고 모 신협 20대 여직원이 직접 작성한 성폭력 피해 고백 편지를 공개했습니다.

공개된 편지에 따르면 피해 여성은 성폭력을 당한데 이어 이 사실을 숨기려는 회사측으로부터 2차 피해를 당했다고 주장했습니다.

도내 여성단체들은 오늘부터 성폭력 신고 온라인 접수창구를 개설하고 피해자들에 대한 지원을 해나가기로 했습니다.
