Minjoo Party to focus on sustainable development in Jeju
Main opposition party will establish special committee

The main opposition party will establish a special committee to promote sustainable development in Jeju.

The Minjoo Party decided to to set up a provisional special committee during a Friday executive meeting.

Party officials say numerous institutional changes over the ten years since Jeju gained semi-autonomy have failed to adequately involve local citizenry and protect the environment.

The chair of the special committee will be (강창일) Kang Chang-il and the secretary will be (오영훈) Oh Young-hoon. Both lawmakers represent Jeju at the National Assembly.

제주특별자치도 출범 10년동안 권한이양과 규제완화 등 수많은 제도개선이 이뤄졌지만 실질적인 주민참여와 환경보전 등에 한계를 보인만큼 당 차원의
지속가능한 제주발전을 위해 이같이 결정했다고 밝혔습니다.

특별위원회 위원장은 강창일 의원이, 간사는 오영훈 의원이 맡게 됩니다.
