Inspectors uncover multiple issues regarding Myths and History Theme Park

The provincial commission of audit and inspection has determined that the province’s decision to grant water and sewage permits to the Jeju Myths and History Theme Park was flawed, and that provincial officials must rectify the situation.

The commission found that the province in 2014 used a very low estimate for the sewage flow at the site, with no clear reason for doing so. This came after the developer more than tripled the size of the accommodations at the park.

Provincial officials also excluded the site’s water park when determining the daily amount of water usage. Finally, inspectors say officials did not check the installation of drainage pipes, and that that led to sewage backflow.

The commission told the provincial government to both give a warning to the provincial water and sewer authority for neglecting its duty in issuing water supply and drainage permits and discipline the five officials who were directly responsible for the lapses.

제주도 감사위원회가 신화역사공원 상하수도 인허가 처분이 잘못됐다며 제주도에 개선을 요구했습니다.

감사위원회 조사 결과에 따르면 제주도는 지난 2014년 신화역사공원 숙박시설 면적이 세 배 이상 늘어났지만 명확한 근거 없이 오수량을 지나치게 적게 산정했습니다.

또 하루 급수량에 워터파크 물 사용량은 제외했고, 허가 기준을 초과한 하수관을 설치했는데도 이를 확인하지 않아 하수 역류 사태를 초래한 것으로 분석했습니다.

감사위원회는 상하수도 인허가와 지도 관리 업무를 소홀히 한 상하수도본부에 대해 기관 경고를, 관계공무원 5명에게 훈계 처분을 요구했습니다.
