Broken wedding contracts due to COVID-19 face no penalties
Social distancing level determines amount of fines

A new policy has been made to protect brides and grooms.The Fair Trade Commission has announced on the 10th that an amendment has been made to the consumer dispute settlement standard.

The amendment states that if a wedding must be canceled at a wedding hall due to an outbreak of an infectious disease such as COVID-19, the contract can be canceled without penalty.

The flexible cancellation of the contract will be limited to cases in which the government issues an administrative order such as a closure or suspension of operations at wedding halls due to the spread of a first-class infectious disease, or if the wedding hall is located in a special disaster area.

In addition, up to 40% of the penalty can be mitigated if authorities issue level two social distancing such as issuing an administrative order restricting group gatherings.

위약금 없이 계약을 해제할 수 있습니다.

이 같은 내용을 담은 소비자분쟁해결기준
개정안을 마련했다고 밝혔습니다.

계약 해제는
관련법상 1급 감염병 확산으로
예식장 폐쇄나 운영중단 등의 행정명령이 있거나,
예식장이나 소비자 거주지역이 특별재난지역으로 선포돼
계약이행이 불가능할 경우에 한정됩니다.

이 외에
집합제한 같은 행정명령 발령으로
사회적 거리두기 2단계에 준하는 수준에선 위약금의 40%를 감경받을 수 있습니다.
