UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference postponed
Conference pushed back to December 11-17 due to COVID-19

The 9th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks Jeju Island, which was scheduled to be held in September, has been postponed to December.

According to the province, UNESCO and the World Geopark Network recently announced that the schedule of the conference will be changed to December 11 through the 17th in light of the spread of COVID-19.

If the COVID-19 will not subside, it will be held in a non-face-to-face manner or the conference will allow just major domestic and foreign figures to participate.

The 9th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks Jeju will be held on the largest scale ever, with more than 1,500 participants from 70 countries.



3. 유네스코 세계지질공원 제주총회 12월로 연기

오는 9월 열릴 예정이던 유네스코 세계지질공원 제주총회가
12월로 연기됐습니다.

제주도에 따르면
유네스코와 세계지질공원 네트워크는
최근 디지털 이벤트 회의에서
제주총회 개최 시기를
코로나19 확산을 감안해 오는 12월 11일부터 17일까지로
변경한다고 공식 발표했습니다.

코로나19 상황이 지속될 경우에는
비대면 또는 국내외 주요 인사를 중심으로 참여하는
하이브리드 방식으로 개최될 예정입니다.

이번 제9차 세계지질공원 제주총회는
70여 개국, 1천500여 명이 참가하는 역대 최대 규모로 진행될
예정입니다.
