The Jeju Municipal Police is working to prevent the increasing number of pedestrian traffic fatalities for seniors by improving pedestrian signal systems and traffic safety facilities.

As part of this initiative, 219 locations, including crosswalks near hospitals and welfare centers frequented by elderly people, will have their pedestrian signal systems upgraded.

For crosswalks 20 meters in length, the pedestrian signal time will be extended from 20 to 28 seconds, and signals will be adjusted to display 1-2 seconds after the vehicle signal ends.

Additionally, traffic safety measures for vulnerable pedestrians will be expanded outside senior protection zones.

보행신호체계와 교통안전시설 개선에 나섭니다.

이를 위해 고령자 비율이 높은 지역과
고령 방문자가 많이 찾는
병원이나 복지관 주변 교차로 횡단보도 등
219개소를 대상지로 정해 보행신호체계를 개선합니다.

20미터 횡단보도의 경우
보행신호시간을
기존 20초에서 28초로 늘리고
차량 신호 종료 후 1-2초 후에 보행신고가 표출되도록 조정합니다.

또 노인보호구역 외 보행안전로에
교통약자 사고 예방을 위한
각종 교통안전시설물을 확대 설치합니다.
