Recently, scams involving impersonation of institutions such as the military and correctional officers have been spreading nationwide, and cases of impersonating fire departments have also been reported, prompting caution.

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, on the 23rd, someone impersonating the Gwangju Fire Headquarters ordered 1.44 million KRW worth of eel from a restaurant and, after presenting a forged official document, requested the proxy purchase of an emergency medical kit.

Earlier, on the 21st, a scammer impersonating the Ulsan Fire Headquarters requested the purchase of a ladder from a hardware store in Ulsan, continuing the trend of impersonation scams targeting fire departments.

Fire authorities are urging the public to immediately report any similar cases to the police or fire department.



소방 사칭 물품구매 사기 기승, 주의해야

최근 군인이나 교정 공무원 등
각종 기관을 사칭한 물품 구매 사기 범죄가
전국적으로 기승을 부리는 가운데
소방을 사칭한 사례도 발생해 주의가 요구됩니다.

제주소방안전본부에 따르면
지난 23일, 광주의 한 음식점에
광주소방안전본부를 사칭해 장어 144만 원 어치를 주문하고
위조한 공문서를 보여주며
응급의료키트를 대리 구매해 달라고 요청했습니다.

이보다 앞선 지난 21일에는
울산소방본부를 사칭해 울산의 한 철물점에 사다리 구매를 요청하는 등 소방을 사칭한 물품구매 사기가 잇따르고 있습니다.

소방당국은 비슷한 사례가 발생하면
곧바로 경찰서나 소방서에
신고해야 한다고 당부했습니다.
