Jeju Province will expand monitoring of invasive pests. It will also run targeted pesticide-control research.

Subtropical invasive insects have been increasing in Jeju. Officials cite abnormal heat, strong winds, and large-vessel traffic as possible causes.

This year, authorities will intensively monitor the pests that cause pine wilt disease and closely examine whether invasive species confirmed in Jeju are spreading.

In particular, they will conduct the first investigation into the possible introduction of the pine beetle, which causes serious damage to trees.

Research on new pest-control agents will also proceed, and if proven effective, they will be registered as official pesticides.

아시아매미나방 유입 여부를 처음 조사하고
신종 병해충 약제 연구도 병행해 효과가 입증되면
방제 농약으로 등록할 계획입니다.
