Jeju Province says no radioactive substances were detected. This includes all water purification plants and desalination facilities in Jeju.

Since the 2011 Fukushima accident, Jeju has conducted annual gamma-nuclide tests on tap water. After the 2023 release of treated water, it expanded testing. This now includes tritium checks on source water for seawater desalination.

Starting this year, the testing frequency has increased from once a year to four times a year.

The first-quarter testing was conducted by the Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology at Jeju National University.



제주 수돗물·담수화시설 방사성물질 '불검출'

제주지역의 모든 정수장과 담수화시설에서 방사성물질은 검출되지 않았습니다.

제주도는 지난 2011년 후쿠시마 원전 사고 이후 매년 수돗물에 대한 감마핵종 검사를 진행해왔으며, 2023년 오염수 방류 이후에는 해수 담수화시설 원수에 대한 삼중수소 검사까지 확대했습니다.

특히 올해부터는 검사 주기를 연 1회에서 연 4회로 늘려 더욱 촘촘한 관리에 나서고 있습니다.

이번 1분기 검사는 제주대학교 원자력과학기술연구소에 의뢰해 진행됐습니다.
