Jeju is challenging for its fourth consecutive re-certification as a UNESCO Global Geopark.

A UNESCO on-site assessment team will visit key sites, including Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산일출봉), Suwolbong (수월봉), Sanbangsan (산방산), and Yongmeori (용머리) Coast over four days starting on the 3rd to assess how the geoparks have been managed over the past four years.

Following the site inspection, the findings will be reviewed by the Geoparks Council in November, with the final decision announced after the General Conference held in December.

Jeju became Korea's first UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010 and has passed re-certification in 2014, 2018, and 2022.

대표 명소를 방문해 지난 4년간의 관리상황을 점검합니다.

현장 심사가 마무리되면 평가 결과를 바탕으로
오는 11월 세계지질공원 네트워크 이사회 심의와
12월 유네스코 총회를 거쳐 최종 결과가 발표됩니다.

제주는
2010년 대한민국 최초로 세계지질공원에 인증됐고
2014년과 2018년,
2022년 재검증을 모두 통과한 바 있습니다.
