The Province recorded the highest crude divorce rate in the country last year, with the number of divorces also seeing the sharpest increase nationwide.

According to Statistics Korea’s 2024 marriage and divorce report, there were 1,648 divorces in Jeju in 2023, a 10.4% increase from the previous year ? the highest growth rate among Korea’s 17 provinces and metropolitan cities.

The crude divorce rate, which represents the number of divorces per 1,000 people, stood at 2.5% also the highest in the nation.

Meanwhile, the number of marriages on the island increased by 5% year-on-year, totaling 2,744 cases.

통계청이 발표한 2024년 혼인 이혼 통계에 따르면
지난해 제주지역 이혼건수는 1천648건으로
전년보다 10.4% 증가하며
전국 17개 시도 가운데 가장 높은 증가율을 기록했습니다.

인구 1천명당 이혼건수인 조이혼율은 2.5%로
이 역시 전국에서 가장 높았습니다.

아울러 지난해 도내 혼인건수는
1년 전과 비교해 5% 늘어난 2천744건으로 집계됐습니다.
