Governor explains decision to allow opening of for-profit hospital

The governor has explained his decision to allow the opening of the nation’s first for-profit hospital.

Won Heeryong posted a message Friday on Facebook entitled “Tell the Truth, Don’t Blame Others.” He argued that he took great pains in coming to his decision and that he ultimately felt he must authorize the opening of Greenland International Hospital in the interests of the future of both Jeju and the nation.

He added that he would institute multiple layers of safety to ensure his decision has no adverse effect on the the public medical system. The governor also drew on a message expressed during the funeral of former American President George H. W. Bush by saying he does not blame others for criticizing his decision.

특히 원 지사는 이로 인해 공공의료체계가 흔들리지 않도록 이중, 삼중 안전장치를 만들겠다며 故 조지 부시 대통령의 추도사를 인용하며 최근 제기되는 여러 의견에
남탓하지 않고 끝까지 최선을 다하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
