Water pipes defective and dysfunctional due to misuse

The Jeju Audit and Inspection Commission uncovered mismanaged and defective water pipes under public agricultural use.

The inspection committee conducted a survey on 900 local underground water pipes used for agricultural purposes and discovered 17 violations of regulations regarding public facility management.

Authorities found that the public water facilities were neglected by the municipal city officials. Study revealed that water pipes in 220 locations were pumped 850 times more than the adequate water-extraction level over a period of 2 years.

Inspectors also discovered that officials did not clean water pipes of 53 locations found to have inadequate water quality in 2017. Water has been pumped from the unhygienic water facilities ever since.

제주도 감사위원회가 지난해 6월부터 한달 동안
도내 공공 농업용 지하수관정 약 900곳을 대상으로
운영실태를 조사한 결과
17건의 위반사항을 적발했습니다.

적발된 내용을 보면
농업용 공공관정 220여 곳에서
2년에 걸쳐 850차례 넘게
취수 허가량을 초과해 물을 뽑아 썼지만
행정시는 이에 대한 관리를 소홀히 한 것으로 드러났습니다.

이와함께
2017년 공공관정 수질검사 결과 53곳에서 수질부적합 판정이 나왔지만
소독이나 청소하지 않고 그대로 사용하도록 방치한 것으로 확인됐습니다.
