6. 8th case of SFTS confirmed in Jeju
56-year-old beekeeper falls ill

Jeju’s 8th case of SFTS, or severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome, has been confirmed.

The Seogwipo Dongbu Public Health Center announced that the 56-year-old patient from Seongsan-eup was diagnosed with SFTS after experiencing headaches and dizziness.

The symptoms appeared on August 1st after engaging in beekeeping.

Health authorities are recommending all residents to wear long clothing when working outdoors and to wash up immediately after completing outdoor work.

SFTS 양성 판정을 받았습니다.

성산읍에 거주하는 A씨는 양봉업에 종사하며,
최근까지도 풀숲에서 일을 해오다
지난 1일부터 증상이 시작된 것으로 알려졌습니다.

보건당국은 야외 활동을 할 때 피부 노출을 최소화하고,
활동이 끝나면 바로 씻는 등 예방 수칙을 준수해야 한다고 당부했습니다.
