The province has begun to compensate to the April 3rd victims since last month, with more than 20 billion won being paid to 290 people so far.

According to the province, out of the 897 victims confirmed by the 4.3 Central Committee for compensation, 291, or 32%, have received a total of 20.6 billion won until the 5th.

The budget for the first year of payment of 131 billion won has been reduced by 50 billion won, and more than 1,500 victims are expected to be compensated within the year.

Meanwhile, the island plans to proceed with applications for 300 of the 2,530 Jeju 4.3 prisoners of court martial trials who have not yet been confirmed as victims.





4·3 희생자 290명 보상금 지급…미결정 희생자 신청


지난 달부터 4.3 희생자 보상이 시작된 가운데 지금까지 290여 명에게 보상금 200억 여 원이 지급됐습니다.

제주도에 따르면 4.3 중앙위원회가 보상금 대상으로 확정한 희생자 897명 가운데 지난 5일까지 32%인 291명이 보상금 206억 원을 받았습니다.

지급 첫해 집행 예산은 당초보다 5백억 원 줄어든 1천 310억 원으로 희생자 1천 5백여 명은 연내 보상이 이뤄질 것으로 보입니다.


한편 제주도는 군사재판 수형인 2천 530명 가운데 아직까지 희생자로 결정되지 않은 3백여 명에 대해 내년부터 희생자 신청 작업을 진행할 예정입니다.
