With funding for laptops for incoming students, excluded from the budget, AI-driven education now faces a setback. Despite this, the Superintendent 김광수 continues to emphasize the importance of AI education and digital literacy.

Last year, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education began full-scale implementation of AI digital textbooks.
However, following a change in administration, the textbooks lost their official status and were pushed down the list of policy priorities.
As a result, the number of participating schools dropped sharply?from 100 to just 15 in the second semester.
It remains uncertain how many schools will take part in the upcoming new school year.

In addition, the budget for providing laptops to incoming middle school students?a core pledge by Superintendent (김광수) Kim Kwang-soo?was not included this year, further weakening the narrative of AI education reform.

Even in this situation, voices emphasizing the need for AI education continue to be heard.
However, educators on the ground point out that opportunities for selective, needs-based use should be expanded.

There are teachers who truly need AIDT. For them, having it is essential for actual classroom use and is genuinely helpful, so I think it is useful. But it’s not equally useful for everyone, which is why I believe it should be appropriately provided as an educational resource, as it is now.
