Researchers aim to restore local fisheries
First step is survey of marine ecosystem

The Jeju branch of the Korea Ocean & Fisheries Institute will survey the marine ecosystem as part of efforts to restore coastal fisheries.

Inspectors will collect data from local fisheries to determine the extent to which they have been affected by land-based pollution. Scientists will then draw up a mid-term comprehensive restoration plan based on that data.

The researchers will focus on inspecting the areas around eight sewage treatment plants on the island as well as looking into how plankton and seaweed are changing the marine environment.

연안 어장 복원 위한 생태계 조사 추진

제주특별자치도 해양수산연구원이 연안 어장 복원을 위한 생태계 조사를 추진합니다.

우선 육상오염원에 의한 연안어장 실태 조사를 통해 종합적인 해양생태 환경영향을 파악하고 중장기적인 복원 계획을 수립합니다.

특히 도내 하수처리장 8개소와 하천 인근 연안에 대한 수질과 함께 동식물 플랑크톤량과 해조류 등 생태계 변화상과 영향을 분석합니다.
