High competition for subsidized housing in Ara-dong
24+ applications for every ‘Happy Housing’ unit

Authorities have received more than 24 applications for every subsidized housing unit that will be opening in Ara-dong.

The Jeju Development Corporation received 947 applications for the 39 so-called “Happy Housing” units.

Nine of the units are for young people just entering adult society, and 464 people applied for them. That works out to nearly 52 applications per unit. Over 21 university students applied for every unit open to them, and over 15.2 young couples are seeking every unit set aside for newlyweds.

Authorities will announce their decisions in February. Those selected will be able to move in in June.

39세대 모집에 947명이 신청해 평균 24.3대 1의 경쟁률을 기록했습니다.

9세대를 공급하는 사회초년생 계층에 464명이 몰려 51.6대 1의 최고 경쟁률을 보였고 대학생 계층은 21.4대 1, 신혼부부는 15.2대 1 등을 보였습니다.

최종 당첨자는 내년 2월 발표되며 입주는 내년 6월부터 시작됩니다.
