Island Investigations on Club Drugs Last month, a drug trafficking and distribution network involved in selling drugs such as Ecstasy and Ketamine in karaoke bars and foreigner-exclusive clubs in South (경상) Gyeongsang Province was apprehended by the Coast Guard. Amidst a series of drug crimes occurring in clubs and bars nationwide, a similar drug offender has been arrested in Jeju as well. A man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was formerly affiliated with a club, has been arrested last month on suspicion of possessing dozens of Ecstasy pills and consuming them. Jeju District Prosecutor's Office has indicted Mr. A on charges of drug possession and consumption, and they have also announced that they are conducting supplementary investigations into individuals who were involved in drug consumption with him. Ecstasy, a new type of drug, is known as a "club drug" as it is primarily consumed by young people. It has a hallucinogenic effect that is three times stronger than that of methamphetamine. INTERVIEW Jo Gwang-won / Jeju Office, Korean Society of Drug Abuse Ecstasy is known to produce hallucinogenic effects that can induce a significant elevation in mood. It is indeed a drug that is commonly used by young people. The Jeju Provincial Police Agency has stated that this case is unrelated to clubs, and it is difficult to disclose specific details regarding the case, including the specific charges, as the investigation is still ongoing. According to the Korea Customs Service, the amount of newly identified drugs seized last year was 260 kg, which is more than a tenfold increase compared to two years ago. Among them, the quantity of Ecstasy seizures increased by seven times during the same period. With the recent arrest of an Ecstasy drug offender in Jeju, there is growing interest in whether the crimes are linked to related industries, as seen in nationwide cases, rather than being isolated incidents of individual crimes. The investigation results regarding any potential spread of crime to associated sectors have garnered significant attention. 제주에도 클럽 마약?…경찰 수사 확대 지난 달 경남에 있는 노래주점과 외국인 전용 클럽 등에서 엑스터시와 케타민 등 마약류를 판매한 판매책과 유통 조직이 해경에 검거됐습니다. 전국적으로 클럽이나 술집에서 마약 범죄가 잇따르는 가운데 제주에서도 유사 마약 사범이 검거됐습니다. 모 클럽 관계자였던 30대 A 씨가 지난 달 엑스터시 수십 정을 소지하고 투약한 혐의로 구속됐습니다. 제주지검은 A 씨를 마약류 소지와 투약 혐의로 구속 기소했고 함께 투약한 이들에 대해서도 보완 수사를 진행하고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 엑스터시는 필로폰보다 환각 작용이 3배나 큰 신종 마약류로 젊은 층이 주로 투약하면서 일명 클럽용 마약으로도 알려졌습니다. <인터뷰 : 고광언/ 한국마약범죄학회 제주지회장> 엑스터시를 투약하면 환각작용을 일으켜서 기분이 아주 상승되는 효과를 누리는 마약으로 알려지고 있습니다. 젊은 사람들이 많이 이용하는 마약으로 보면 되겠습니다. 제주경찰청은 이번 사건은 클럽과는 무관하다면서도 구체적인 혐의점 등은 수사가 진행 중이여서 밝히기 어렵다고 전했습니다. 지난해 관세청이 적발한 신종 마약류는 260kg으로 2년 전보다 10배 이상 급증했습니다. 이 가운데 엑스터시 적발 물량은 같은 기간 7배나 늘었습니다. 제주에서도 엑스터시 마약 사범이 검거된 가운데 개인의 단순 범죄가 아닌 전국 사례처럼 연관 업종으로 범죄가 퍼졌을지 수사 결과에 관심이 모아지고 있습니다.

The creation of 10,000 jobs for young adults in the public sector, provision of allowances for young adults, the improvement of working conditions for childcare teachers, and the introduction of a limited development system. [slug] Governor made 200 pledges during campaign Won Hee-ryong announced about 200 pledges is his runup to the June 13 local elections. His office is now moving to fulfill those promises. [slug] Press conference for ‘Pledge Fulfillment Committee’ A committee has been formed to lead the charge in helping the campaign pledges see the light of day. The committee consists of eight sub-committees covering the environment, agriculture/fisheries, city/transportation, economy/industry, and future industries. Each sub-committee will draw up detailed plans to realize Won’s campaign promises. Six special sub-committees are also being formed to look at childcare, education, and youths, and which will also come up with additional policies of their own. The Red Cross helped arrange the meeting Friday at Mount Kumgang in the North. The Ministry of Unification says that, as of May, 56,890 people remained separated from their close relatives, and that 547 of them were in Jeju. 62 percent of them are men, 38 percent women, and 41 percent are in their 80s. Council committee passes proposals for multi-use buildings Structures to include community centers, subsidized housing A provincial council standing committee has passed proposals to build government buildings that combine community centers with subsidized housing units. The administration and autonomy committee approved plans Friday for one such building in Ildo 2-dong, Jeju City and another in Jungang-dong, Seogwipo. The planned multi-use building in Ildo-dong will have two underground levels and nine floors above ground. It will have a community center office and 130 residential units when it’s done in 2021. The structure in Jungang-dong will include 90 subsidized housing units. 도의회, "복합청사 개발사업 원안 가결" 주민센터와 행복주택을 결합한 복합청사 개발사업이 도의회 상임위를 통과하면서 탄력을 받게 됐습니다. 제주도의회 행정자치위원회는 22일 제360회 임시회에서 제주도지사가 제출한 제주시 일도2동과 서귀포시 중앙동 복합청사 개발을 위한 공유재산관리계획변경안을 가결했습니다. 일도동 복합청사는 지하 2층, 지상 9층 규모로 주민센터 청사와 130세대 규모의 행복주택이 들어설 예정으로 2021년 완공을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 서귀포시 중앙동에도 신청사와 90세대 규모의 행복주택이 결합한 복합청사가 들어서게 됩니다.

  • 1. Province releases fifth energy independence plan 10-year roadmap focuses on renewable energy The provincial government has released its fifth energy independence plan. It focuses on renewable energy, but it also includes the construction of an LNG combined cycle power plant, the building of other LNG facilities in Aewol, and the laying of a third underwater high-voltage line between Jeju and the mainland. There are a total of 27 specific projects in six categories. They also include support for on- and offshore wind farms and solar cells. The plans will be enacted this year and carried out over the next decade. 제주도, 제5차 지역에너지 계획 발표 제주특별자치도가 신재생에너지 중심의 제5차 지역에너지 자립 계획을 발표했습니다. 제주도는 안정적인 에너지 공급 인프라 구축을 위해 LNG 복합화력 건설사업과 애월 LNG 건설사업, 제3해저연계선 건설을 차질없이 추진하겠다고 밝혔습니다. 아울러 육상 풍력과 해상 풍력, 태양광 지원사업 등 6개 분야 27개 세부 사업도 진행할 계획입니다. 이번 5차 지역에너지 자립 계획은 올해부터 2027년까지 10년동안 추진됩니다.

Officials are over the next month drawing up a detailed distribution plan based on the size and usage statistics of the centers. A demand survey will follow, and authorities will then use all of that data to begin installing the devices in August. It is polling 67-hundred local businesses about economic conditions last year. Office officials or representatives from related government divisions will visit the firms to ask the questions in person or respondents will be asked to fill out the survey online. This survey is conducted every year. The data collected is used to formulate business policies for sectors such as wholesale and retail, service, transportation, and manufacturing. 2017년도 기준 경제통계통합조사 실시 호남지방통계청 제주사무소가 다음달 24일까지 제주도내 6천 700여개 사업체를 대상으로 2017년 기준 경제통계통합조사를 실시합니다. 조사는 담당공무원과 조사원이 직접 사업체를 방문하거나 인터넷 조사를 병행하는 방식으로 이뤄집니다. 경제통계통합조사는 도,소매업과 서비스업, 운수업, 제조업 등에 대한 산업구조분포와 경영 실태를 파악해 산업 정책을 수립하기 위한 것으로 매년 실시되고 있습니다.

The national government recently announced an agreement on investigative responsibilities between the prosecution and the police. Officials say Seoul changed what had been a vertical relationship between them to one that is focused on mutual cooperation. The goal is smoother investigations and indictments. Prosecutors retain the sole authority to indict, and to investigate in specific cases, as well as to request that the police conduct further investigations. 검찰 수사지휘권 폐지, 경찰에 '종결권' 부여 검찰의 수사지휘권이 폐지되고 경찰에 모든 사건에 대한 1차 수사권과 종결권이 부여됩니다. 정부는 이같은 내용을 골자로 한 검-경 수사권 조정 합의문을 발표했습니다. 정부는 검찰과 경찰간 지휘와 감독의 수직적 관계에서 벗어나 수사와 공소 제기, 유지의 원활한 수행을 위해 상호협력하는 관계로 설정했다고 밝혔습니다. 이번 합의문에서 검찰은 기소권과 함께 일부 특정사건에 대한 직접 수사권, 송치 후 수사권, 경찰수사에 대한 보완수사요구권 등을 갖게 됐습니다.
