Island Investigations on Club Drugs Last month, a drug trafficking and distribution network involved in selling drugs such as Ecstasy and Ketamine in karaoke bars and foreigner-exclusive clubs in South (경상) Gyeongsang Province was apprehended by the Coast Guard. Amidst a series of drug crimes occurring in clubs and bars nationwide, a similar drug offender has been arrested in Jeju as well. A man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was formerly affiliated with a club, has been arrested last month on suspicion of possessing dozens of Ecstasy pills and consuming them. Jeju District Prosecutor's Office has indicted Mr. A on charges of drug possession and consumption, and they have also announced that they are conducting supplementary investigations into individuals who were involved in drug consumption with him. Ecstasy, a new type of drug, is known as a "club drug" as it is primarily consumed by young people. It has a hallucinogenic effect that is three times stronger than that of methamphetamine. INTERVIEW Jo Gwang-won / Jeju Office, Korean Society of Drug Abuse Ecstasy is known to produce hallucinogenic effects that can induce a significant elevation in mood. It is indeed a drug that is commonly used by young people. The Jeju Provincial Police Agency has stated that this case is unrelated to clubs, and it is difficult to disclose specific details regarding the case, including the specific charges, as the investigation is still ongoing. According to the Korea Customs Service, the amount of newly identified drugs seized last year was 260 kg, which is more than a tenfold increase compared to two years ago. Among them, the quantity of Ecstasy seizures increased by seven times during the same period. With the recent arrest of an Ecstasy drug offender in Jeju, there is growing interest in whether the crimes are linked to related industries, as seen in nationwide cases, rather than being isolated incidents of individual crimes. The investigation results regarding any potential spread of crime to associated sectors have garnered significant attention. 제주에도 클럽 마약?…경찰 수사 확대 지난 달 경남에 있는 노래주점과 외국인 전용 클럽 등에서 엑스터시와 케타민 등 마약류를 판매한 판매책과 유통 조직이 해경에 검거됐습니다. 전국적으로 클럽이나 술집에서 마약 범죄가 잇따르는 가운데 제주에서도 유사 마약 사범이 검거됐습니다. 모 클럽 관계자였던 30대 A 씨가 지난 달 엑스터시 수십 정을 소지하고 투약한 혐의로 구속됐습니다. 제주지검은 A 씨를 마약류 소지와 투약 혐의로 구속 기소했고 함께 투약한 이들에 대해서도 보완 수사를 진행하고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 엑스터시는 필로폰보다 환각 작용이 3배나 큰 신종 마약류로 젊은 층이 주로 투약하면서 일명 클럽용 마약으로도 알려졌습니다. <인터뷰 : 고광언/ 한국마약범죄학회 제주지회장> 엑스터시를 투약하면 환각작용을 일으켜서 기분이 아주 상승되는 효과를 누리는 마약으로 알려지고 있습니다. 젊은 사람들이 많이 이용하는 마약으로 보면 되겠습니다. 제주경찰청은 이번 사건은 클럽과는 무관하다면서도 구체적인 혐의점 등은 수사가 진행 중이여서 밝히기 어렵다고 전했습니다. 지난해 관세청이 적발한 신종 마약류는 260kg으로 2년 전보다 10배 이상 급증했습니다. 이 가운데 엑스터시 적발 물량은 같은 기간 7배나 늘었습니다. 제주에서도 엑스터시 마약 사범이 검거된 가운데 개인의 단순 범죄가 아닌 전국 사례처럼 연관 업종으로 범죄가 퍼졌을지 수사 결과에 관심이 모아지고 있습니다.

The province will conduct decontaminations every day at the bus terminals in Jeju City and Seogwipo City. All of Jeju Island’s 881 buses that are in operation will also be disinfected either once a week or once a month. The province plans to secure 254,000 masks and 58,000 hand sanitizers to equip venues where hygiene conditions are poor. 다중이용시설 중심 방역 소독 강화 제주특별자치도가 다중이용시설을 중심으로 방역 소독을 강화합니다. 이를 위해 유동인구가 많은 제주시외버스터미널과 서귀포버스터미널 등 2곳에 대해 매일 방역 소독을 실시하고 현재 운행 중인 전 노선버스 881대에 대해서도 월 1회에서 일주일에 한차례씩 방역 소독에 나섭니다. 이와함께 마스크 25만 4천여 개와 손세정제 5만 8천여 개를 확보해 공중화장실 등 위생 취약 지역에 비치합니다.

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency has decided to remove the process of reporting personal information to allow illegal residents to get tested without worry of deportation. The agency has asked all illegal immigrants to undergo testing if they experience any suspicious symptoms. There is an estimated 13,000 illegal residents on Jeju Island as of 2018, and the new policy comes in the midst of a crackdown on illegal immigration. There is currently an exemption on fines and prohibition of entry for illegal residents who return to their home country voluntarily by June. 불법 체류자도 강제추방 없이 '코로나 검사' 제주에서 불법 체류하는 외국인도 신종 코로나 바이러스 감염증 검사를 받을 수 있게 됩니다. 제주지방경찰청은 불법 체류 외국인이라도 강제추방 부담 없이 신종 코로나 검사를 받도록 신상정보 통보의무를 면제하기로 했습니다. 경찰은 불법 체류 신분이더라도 코로나 감염이 의심될 경우 의료기관에서 검진받을 것을 부탁했습니다. 한편 도내 불법 체류자는 2018년 기준 1만 3천여 명에 달하고 있으며 경찰은 6월까지 자진 출국하면 범칙금과 입국금지를 면제해줄 방침입니다.

She was confirmed to be infected with the deadly virus on January 30th in China. The province's health authorities have been tracking her itinerary on the 24th and 25th. [slug] Itinerary is reconstructed by testimony and memory However, there is a serious lapse in information. Her family's itinerary is being reconstructed from her daughter's memory and testimony that could be distorted or miss important information. Province to subsidize 870 electric motorcycles Up to \3.3mil in financial aid will be issued per vehicle The province has decided to provide support to 870 units of level 24 electric motorcycles this year and have started distributing the subsidies on the 5th. Eligibility includes residents of Jeju aged 17 and older, and companies that were established or registered in the province. Support will be limited to one vehicle per person and up to 20 vehicles for businesses. Depending on the model of the electric motorcycle, the subsidy offered will range from 2.1 to 3.3 million won. An additional 200,000 won will be paid to those who dispose of their existing two-wheeled internal combustion engine. Their temporary closure started on February 2nd after it had been confirmed that the Chinese woman visited the shops on January 23rd. 도내 대기업 면세점, 7일부터 영업 재개 신종 코로나 바이러스 감염증 확진 환자가 다녀간 것으로 확인돼 임시 휴업한 도내 면세점들이 7일부터 영업을 재개합니다. 신라면세점과 롯데면세점 제주점은 영업장 내 방역을 완료함에 따라 중국인 확진 환자가 다녀간 지 2주일이 되는 시점인 7일부터 영업을 재개한다고 밝혔습니다. 앞서 이들 면세점은 신종 코로나 확진 환자인 중국인 관광객이 지난달 23일 매장을 방문했다는 사실돼 지난 2일부터 임시 휴업 상태입니다.

The provincial government has stated that 11 people have been isolated, including hotel staff who were in contact with the confirmed Chinese patients and three other Chinese citizens who entered the country on the same plane. The incubation period will end on February 7, and there have been no unusual symptoms thus far, as well as no secondary infections that have been confirmed in the area. CCTV footage has also revealed that no other close contact was made with the confirmed Chinese tourists. Meanwhile, 26 cases of the novel coronavirus have been tested in Jeju, with all testing negative for the virus. 2. Man identified to have been in close contact with coronavirus patient Will remain in quarantine until Feb 7 A man who was in contact with Korea’s 12th confirmed coronavirus patient has been reported to be staying in Jeju. The province was notified by the Jinju Health Center in South Gyeongsang Province at 11:30 a.m. on the 5th, after which the man was located and quarantined. The quarantined patient landed on Jeju Island on February 2nd before traveling from Gangneung to Seoul Station on the same KTX train with the 12th confirmed patient on January 23rd.
